Yinka Shonibare, CBE at the 60th International Art Exhibition

Work by Yinka Shonibare CBE is featured in the 60th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, curated by Adriano Pedrosa. The exhibition, titled Stranieri Ovunque - Foreigners Everywhere, is on public view from April 20 through November 24, 2024.

Visitors to the Arsenale are greeted by Shonibare's Refugee Astronaut VIII, 2024. The initial idea for Refugee Astronaut, born in 2015, stemmed from the concept of space as a possible place of refuge for the human race. The work is a warning, imagining what could happen if humankind fails to act in the face of a warming planet and rising tides of global conflict.
