Description

Published in conjunction with Tuan Andrew Nguyen's solo exhibition, The Other Side of Now, at Zeitz MOCAA, The Other Side of Now documents Nguyen's first solo African presentation.

What lies beyond the stories we were told? What happens when memory and imagination intertwine, and the past speaks in echoes we can no longer ignore? In The Other Side of Now, Vietnamese-American artist Tuấn Andrew Nguyễn unearths erased histories, revealing the unseen entanglements between colonisation, war, migration, and resistance. Through film and sculpture, Nguyễn crafts a space for remembrance, empathy, and communal healing—where lost voices find their way home, and forgotten narratives are unearthed. Experience speculative storytelling through cinematic works and sculptural relics—artillery shells transformed into singing bowls, propaganda leaflets embroidered into delicate tapestries, and letters bridging past and present. Step into a world where time collapses, where diasporic histories from Vietnam, Senegal, and Morocco converge, and connect to a time that’s not the present.
