Tabaimo produces beautiful yet disturbing hand-drawn animations, which mix traditional Japanese imagery with digital video techniques. Drawing on media images as well as her own personal experience, she often creates dark, satirical pieces that critique modern life in Japan, in particular her generation's attempts to reconcile the realities of today with older Japanese values.
